The Fundamentals Of Vaginal Surgery Task Trainer
Developed by a team of dedicated Obstetric-Gynecology surgeons, The Fundamentals of Vaginal Surgery (FVS) simulator is a modular training system intended to support Obstetrics and Gynecology trainees as they learn and refine critical vaginal surgical skills such as tying, suturing, and cutting.
The FVS system consists of 3 primary components
Task Trainer
Designed to provide scaffolded skills development, the FVS task trainer allows for the practice of six critical vaginal procedure skills in a controlled, safe environment.
Inserts
One time use inserts allow trainees to cut and suture with lifelike feel. Multiple varieties are available, and inserts come pre-marked for consistency of training and evaluation.
Curriculum
The FVS curriculum consists of demonstration videos, and an assessment tool. There is a discrete video for each of the 6 tasks. Preliminary validity evidence of the assessment tool has been evaluated, and performance standards have been established
